Pool Media Filters
Your swimming pool or spa pool's media filter is designed to remove inorganic contaminants from the swimming pool.
The deep media bed traps these particles as they pass through and return sparkling clean water to the swimming pool.
Not all filters are created equal. Hurlcon's range of media filters incorporate unique designs allowing them to move more water in less time, have deeper media beds for better filtration, have unique lateral assemblies and bombproof construction.
Traditionally, a mixture of sand has been the media of choice. It provides filtration to 15 microns, requires regular backwashing (more frequently as the sand gets older) and must be replaced every six years.
We have replaced sand with M3 - Zeolite as a filter media. Not only does it filter to 2 microns for stunning crystal clear pool water, but it also absorbs ammonium and chloramines (smelly ineffective chlorine) from your pool's water, helping reduce the amount of chlorine required by your pool. M3 media also absorbs iron, a metal commonly found in rural and bore water supplies. By removing the iron from the swimming pool's water you eliminate the chances of surface staining or discolouration. It also requires less frequent backwashing than sand, saving thousands of precious litres of water every year.
