Pool water level regulators: retrofit your pool with Vodafill
Your pool can have automatic top-up even if it was built without one. Vodafill brings wireless water level control to existing pools, helping take the hose and the guesswork out of routine filling.
Can you retrofit an automatic water level regulator to an existing pool?
Yes. Vodafill is designed for both new and existing pools. Its wireless sensor works across pool shapes, sizes and materials, so you do not need to be building a new pool to consider it. Installation still needs a suitable water connection, power and wireless coverage. Ask your installer to confirm the arrangement for your site.

What is a pool water level regulator?
A pool water level regulator monitors the waterline and controls a fill valve. When the level falls below its set point, it adds water; when the target is reached, filling stops. You may also see these systems called pool auto-fillers, automatic top-up units or water level controllers.
Evaporation, splash-out and filter backwashing can all mean a pool needs topping up. A regulator helps manage that routine job. It is especially useful when the person responsible for the pool cannot check it every day.
The right target level depends on your pool's skimmer, overflow design and equipment. Set it with your pool professional rather than choosing a waterline simply because it looks right.
Why Vodafill suits an existing pool
With an established pool, the question is often where a new cable or pipe would go. Paving, decks and gardens can make an otherwise straightforward upgrade difficult to justify.
Vodafill separates water sensing from the controller through wireless communication. The manufacturer describes a quick installation without digging to run sensor wiring, and specifically confirms retrofit use. That is the appeal: add water level management without planning a full pool renovation. See the manufacturer's installation and compatibility FAQ.
Does “any pool” mean any installation?
Pool shape or construction material alone does not rule out Vodafill. However, the fill connection, sensor position and radio signal still need to work at the property. A concrete pool beside a plant room presents a different installation from a pool separated from its equipment by several walls.
Have a pool professional review the site before ordering. Our Vodafill product page brings the system details and enquiry options together.
What does the wireless system do?
The submersible sensor reports water level to a control unit, which operates the filling valve. The Vodalogic app provides monitoring and control on Apple and Android devices.
Vodalogic's current product specification lists ±3mm water level accuracy, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE 5.4. App notifications can draw attention to unusual water behaviour or a disconnected component. These are monitoring aids: investigate persistent water loss rather than letting automatic filling conceal a problem. View the manufacturer's current specifications.

Manual filling, float valves or wireless control?
Start with the job you want the system to do. Is it simply opening a valve at a low waterline, or do you also want to check the pool remotely?
| Approach | How it is managed | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Manual hose filling | You check the level and turn the water on and off. | Who will watch the fill and remember to stop it? |
| Mechanical float regulator | A float operates a valve at a set level. | Is there an accessible, suitable location for the valve and water supply? |
| Wired electronic regulator | A connected sensor signals a controller. | Where can the sensor cable and fill plumbing be routed? |
| Vodafill wireless regulator | Wireless sensing and a controlled valve, with app access. | Check sensor placement, water connection, power and wireless coverage. |
If remote visibility and an existing finished pool area are your priorities, Vodafill wireless pool water level control is worth discussing with your installer.
What should you check before a retrofit?
- Water supply and filling route. The manufacturer specifies a 20mm mains-water connection to the pool equipment. Have the installer assess the route and appropriate backflow protection.
- Power and connectivity. Confirm a suitable supply for the controller and adapter, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi coverage and reliable Bluetooth communication at the intended positions.
- Sensor position. Choose a secure, accessible location and confirm the target waterline for the pool.
- Existing filling equipment. If replacing an old auto-filler, decide how it will be isolated or integrated so two systems do not compete.
- Commissioning and handover. Pair the components, set the levels, test filling and shut-off, and confirm that the person maintaining the pool can access the app.
A useful first enquiry includes photos of the pool edge and equipment area, the distance between them, your water supply location and details of any existing auto-fill system. Contact Aqua Clear with those details for help planning the next step.
Automatic top-up still needs sensible pool care
Check that the system is operating as expected, keep the sensor clean and investigate changes in filling frequency. If a pool needs more water than usual, check for an open waste line, a running valve or a leak with your service professional.
Automatic filling does not replace water testing, cleaning or equipment servicing. It also does not create drainage capacity during heavy rain. Keep the pool's overflow and drainage arrangements in mind when setting up water level control.
Pool water level regulator FAQs
Can Vodafill be added to a concrete, fibreglass or liner pool?
The manufacturer says its sensors suit pools of any shape, size or material, including existing pools. The installer must still confirm a workable water supply, power, communications and sensor location for your particular pool.
Will the pool surrounds need to be dug up?
The wireless design avoids trenching for sensor cables. An installation may still require plumbing work to provide the filling connection; check that route before assuming no building work will be needed.
Does a wireless auto-filler still need plumbing?
Yes. Wireless refers to communication between components. Water still has to reach the pool through a suitable connection and controlled valve.
Can it tell me if the pool has a leak?
Vodafill provides monitoring and notifications that can help flag abnormal water usage. An alert is a reason to investigate, rather than a diagnosis of where a leak is or a substitute for a leak test.
Is Vodafill suitable for an infinity pool?
Vodalogic identifies infinity pools as an application for precise level management. Have your pool designer or installer assess the correct sensing point and filling arrangement for the pool and any balance tank.
