How Many Lights Does My Pond Need?
As a rule of thumb, plan one submersible spotlight for every 1–1.5 metres of key viewing feature — a waterfall, weir or statue — plus perimeter lighting to define the edges. Small ponds usually need just two or three lights, while larger koi ponds and commercial fountains benefit from layered lighting: underwater uplighting, surface glow and surrounding garden light. Choose warm white (2700–3000K) for a natural look, or 4000–5000K to make blue and coloured finishes pop.
